Itinerary
Pick up: 7:15 am
The tour starts from your hotel. The guide will pick you up at 7:15 am in a “chiva” or a truck, depending on the number of passengers.
Sulfur Mines
We start with a 20-minute journey to the first stop, the tourist checkpoint “EL CURA.” Once there, while the permits to enter the Sulfur Mines site are being presented, tourists can explore the surroundings, taking advantage of the beautiful vegetation and the sighting of Vermilion Flycatchers.
From this point, it takes approximately 25 minutes to reach the Sulfur Mines site. During this journey, if weather conditions are favorable, you can see the crater of the volcano.
Upon arrival at the site, the naturalist guide gives a brief explanation about the area to be explored and what to keep in mind during the descent hike to the fumaroles, which takes approximately 2 hours and 30 minutes.
After the hike, you can enjoy a delicious box lunch and share anecdotes from the trip. Finally, we return to Puerto Villamil and drop off passengers at their respective hotels.
